Kettleford Township, New Hampshire Province, 1769. Whit Livingston was 19, Melissa Butler barely 16 when they faced the town elders who could give or withhold permission to wed. Everything they owned was in Whit's canoe. All the home he could offer was the raw wilderness. And only Whit and Melissa knew that their first child was already on the way.
I really liked this book, probably because it was about the area in New Hampshire I live. HOw they lived day to day and worked thier land. The rules about marriage, and how the first town meetings were held are quite different. And the thoughts they thought when they first saw their land and the mountains.
Interesting olde language, small type, thick book. Enjoyed it immensely, familiar location names
