We are looking for 3 series: A Life of Faith Series: Elsie, Violet, Millie and the study guides to go with these 3 series. Here's an example:

Does anyone have some of the series and want to do a deal?  I am trying to get them for my aunt.  She needs 2 copies of eac study guide as well.

I have one.  The system has the author incorrect.  I'll send in a book edit for that.  I'd do a deal with other books on my shelf (except Norton books or texts).

Grandmother Elsie :: Martha Hinley
ISBN-13: 9781888306415 - ISBN-10: 1888306416

Christa, you might want to be aware that some of the newer releases of these books have changed a couple of things about them.

One change is to edit them to reflect today's ideas of what is acceptable in speech and actions towards others. This does not accurately portray attitudes and life as it was in the old South. Too much of this kind of editing could make one wonder why we fought a war to end slavery. I'm not defending bigotry, but that WAS what life was like then and even at the time these books were written.

My other concern also has to do with historical accuracy. However one may feel about the versions of the Bible created in the past 100 years, it just grated on me for her to quote and memorize Scriptures from versions that did not exist for many decades after the setting of the story. This was really brought home in the Fruit of the Spirit study guide that we got to go with these stories. This might not bother many, but it was confusing to my kids that had already memorized many of these Scriptures from the KJV.

There are at least 3 publishers that have brought these books back. At least one kept the original intact, one made the changes mentioned above, and I'm not sure about any others.

The library on the Air Force Base here has the complete set of the reissue of the original Elsie series, so it might be a good idea to check around.
