I'm trying to remember the title to a historical romance book I read several years ago. I think it might have been published by Harlequin Historical. The story is about a man that was born in the slums of London, he becomes very rich. The heroine is a writer, she travels around writing travel guides. For some reason, can't remember why, she owns this man a debt and so they marry. I do remember that there was a scene about a horrible train accident. And the heroine tries to rescue some kids from a work house. Not much to go on but any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!!
I don't remember the part about the fertility cycles but it sounds like the same book. Thanks for trying to help! :) I hate when I have a book in my head and I can't remember what it was. Last Edited on: 10/29/09 5:25 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I read this! The debt had somethign to do with railroad shares and her father or something. Was he the one who studied female fertility cycles so he could maybe seduce her without worrying about the consequences when they ended the marriage? Or am I confusing my train related romances? She was blonde and he had dark hair if I remember right.
Oh I can't remember the title. WAH! |

Sounds familiar to me, too! I have to think about it. |

Shares of a train being built but there were right of way issues. To put the bad man out of business were bought out by the Hero? Darn it! And I do think there were children and workhouse issues. I will keep searching. Last Edited on: 11/1/09 7:43 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I know I read the same book a couple of years ago and for the life of me I can't remember the title/author. It was before I joined PBS so I can't check my BIR either. |

Could this one be Silk and Shadows by Mary Jo Putney? Unfortunately I swapped my copy already and can't check the book. But I don't think there is anything about fertility cycles. I would like to know which book that one is. Sounds interesting. |
