I'm looking for romances with manly men heroes. I like men to have short hair and manly features. Maybe someone like Dean Winchester/Jensen Ackles. I think he is so darn hot. I like paranormal, urban fantasy, thriller, or mystery romance. I don't want anything like erotica or borderline erotica but some sex is good. I don't mind the women being gutsy and independent either. I don't like mink women. So, know of any books like this? Any help would be awesome. : )

Try Deborah Cooke's Dragonfire series not all the men have short hair but the stories are great and very little sex. It seems to me most of the books written today are heavy in sex and it takes some time to find a series not drenched in it. I don't have a preference either way....just whatever mood I am in leads me to who I read each week.

Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson series maybe.  It's UF not romance, but IIRC the romantic inetrests have short hair.  I know that one is ex militarya nd definitely does.

Kelley Armstrong's women of the Otherworld is another that comes to mind.

I want to say that some of Pamela Palmers Untame series have the shorter hair, but don't hold me to it.. It's one of these that the guys don't have the long flowy hair... Thea Harrison, Dianne Duvall.

Laura Stamps WItchery Series... Can't remember book #1, Book #2 no sex (or boyfriend) until late in the book, #3 has bunches of sex... but #2 and #3 books its' tastefully done.. (you can have the characters having sex, but not for the sake of stuffing a sex scene in a book... and it doesn't have to be in minute detail either to get the message across). Basically the series is about White Witches/Pagens but think the guys have longer hair... the one does... but the e book I think are 99 cents (I don't have her site but if you search for Laura Stamps you'll find it).

I've been reading the Maya Banks Kelly/KGI series. (Most are waitlisted.) Her heroes are a set of six brothers, all military.  Actually, they've mostly left the military to form their own private-military group that hires out, mostly for rescue operations. So I think they all have short hair and generally still a military-type appearance.

Books 1-3 are pretty standard romance/adventure tales. Book 4 has some paranormal twist as the primary female character is telepathic. And the Book 5 (July 2012) features her sister who is telepathic and can heal people.

I really enjoy the writing style and the humor. She creates a story that holds the attention.  Yeah, you know it ends with boy-gets-girl and "happily ever after", but it's the journey getting there that's fun.  She does include some pretty steamy sex scenes. But I find in most books lately I'm skimming that part. Nothing against it at all, but I'd just rather get back to the key storyline.

By the way, what are "mink women"?
