My nephew just moved off to college. To my sister's surprise, my nephew has decided to forego all the pre-packaged foods and make his own meals. Here's the problem, my sister can't cook and has never shown him how, hence no experience. I'm looking for a cookbook with just the basic food items he can make. Almost like a how-to book. Granted, it needs to be a normal american menu and maybe as simple as boiling water, how to fry an egg or how to tell the meat is done. This book does not need to be on your shelf (but would make it easier) just let me know the titles of any you may know of and I can start searching for it. Posting here is fine. Thanks for your help! |

I know when I was going to school, my mom gave me a cookbook titled "Leaving Home". I still use some of the recipes to this day!! Good luck!! |

A great book to get for him would be HOW TO COOK EVERYTHING by Mark Bittman....its huge and yellow and has everything in there. My mom never taught me how to cook because she said I was to messy of a cook so when I got married 2 years ago I bought this book and it literally has everything down to how to cook fresh vegetables and also some more complicated things but its all in there:)
