I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 3 years ago. Due to the pain, I gave up golf and tennis which I loved.

My Dr. says he wants to see "LESS of ME" in 4 months. I need a jump-start...

Now my new goal...lose 40 lbs. I have put on since then...LOL

Can anyone help with a DEAL on NON-FAD cookbooks for weight loss?

Thanks so much.

Robin, my mom has Fibro, has had it for years.  She lost about 40 lbs doing Weight Watchers and she says that she can feel the difference.   It took her about a year and half, but she did it.  She looks and feels great, and her Fibro, while still there, is lessened on most days.   The Fibro made it much harder on here, since some days getting out of bed was hard, let alone walking or working out.  But she said that portion control and keeping a food diary really helped her out.

I 2nd Stephanie's invitation - please join us in the Weight loss buddies thread !

I have Fibromyalgia also... the best meal plan for us is the Zone Diet... but not to be used as a once in a while, Im going to lose weight then stop diet... a life long thing for us. High protein, low carbs is what is best for us. Also eating smaller meals and snacks that are balanced bit every 4-5 hours. Try finding the zone diet cookbook. It might be hard at first, but if you want to feel better, its worth it.

I have had it for 8 years, brought on by the anthrax vaccine when I was in the Marines..(persian gulf syndrome, except I never went to the persian gulf...they should just call it anthrax vaccine syndrome or something) (argh)

The best thing I have found is eating GOOD carbs (not too much though), lots of raw or slightly cooked fruits and veggies, beans and tofu and such for protein and a few servings of chicken and fish per week...I guess you would say a mostly vegetarian diet..rarely do I eat red meat anymore...

Low impact exercise helps too, I try to walk as much as I can...(we all know how that goes though..lol)  Swimming in a heated pool is the best though...it really makes the muscles feel good, as long as you don't over do it...

Just floating in warm water is nice..lol...just don't forget to move periodically..

Weight is a struggle for a lot of us since we don't have the ability/mobility we once had...Is that weight loss buddies group still going?  I could use a partner (or a few)..lol
