My son is 9 and in 4th grade. His teacher has informed the parents that every month they will be required to do a book report. She has said that by the time they are done with the school year, they will have covered all the genre. First, what are the different types of genre for childrens books and second, can anyone recommend any good authors or series? Also, sorry for the hic-up of my other post that seemed to come out doubled.
I think they have a lot of the same genres as adults with maybe the exception of romance..fantasy, mystery, non-fiction, horror, sci-fi,
surely the teacher has some suggestions; otherwise I'd have just read all mystery I think!
I remember reading WIzard of Oz somewhre around that age..not sure the age for Harry Potter but I read the first one as an adult and will probably read the next ones as well one fo these days. they have a lto of the classics written for children - three musketeers, call of the wild, etc
I answered briefly in the Teacher's forum, but I found myself with a little time on my hands this morning, so I've gone through and found 4 books in each genre listed in your other post. All of these are currently available in the system. :-)
