Isnt Irish English? I swear Im not stalking you BTW I clicked here on accident trying to click the freethinkers forum and noticed this thread. I often claim to be speaking Irish cause they used different pronounciation of curse words like feck shite arse but I wasnt aware that there was a language called irish. Do you mean Gaelic? Ive read a few with Gaelic sprinkled in them but none written just in Gaelic. I think a search of books written in Gaelic might help you there though. Do you speak Gaelic? |

Last time I was in Ireland the people spoke english but there is such a language like Irish. A small part of the culture still speaks it but I doubt there are books written in Irish Gaelic. I've heard it once or twice and acually liked the sound of it. . |

The language of Ireland is Irish Gaelic (there is also a Scottish dialect to the language, so you have to be careful if you find something that just says Gaelic) and it's still spoken in quite a few counties in the Emerald Isle, even tho English is now the official language. I am in the process of learning the language and I have a pen pal in Ireland who is also helping me along.....it's a very very difficult language. Unfortunately, I don't have any novels or books like that written in Irish....only my instructional workbooks and dictionaries. Beannachtai na Feile Padraig Shona Dhuit "Happy St. Patricks Day" Slainte agus saol agat "Good Health and Long Life To You"
www.irishcultureandcustoms.com has a kids section, but the books are all in english. However, the site owners are from Ireland and they may be able to point you in the right direction to get some books in the irish gaelic.
