My (new) daughter-in-law is currently deployed with the military and I'm sending her books.  Trying to mix things up a little since I don't know her reading tastes yet, so I was thinking about a mystery.  She's in her late 20s.

Any mystery bufs have any suggestions for really good mysteries that might be currently available in the system?

Thanks for your input... I'm really out of my element with this one.

There is such a wide range of mysteries, from super-cozy (non-violent, sort of 'fun' reads) to thrillers with lots of blood and guts. Without knowing your DIL's tastes, it's hard to make recommendations. One suggestion might be the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich, based on just her age. They're sort of quirky, humorous, light mysteries and I quite enjoyed the first few of them...they do become tedious after awhile but the first are good. I believe the first one is called One For the Money and I'm sure the system is loaded with that title, as there's nineteen of them by now (I think) and it's a quite popular series.

For more of a literary mystery, your daughter-in-law may enjoy the Jackson Brodie mystery series by Kate Atkinson. The first book in the series is Case Histories and there are copies available in the system.
