I can't remember the name of the book but it was about two Swiss children who lived with their mother and were very poor. Their mother became sick and they had no food in the house and they became desperate. That made the children think of the times at Christmas when they would go through the village and sing Christmas carols to get treats from the villagers. So even though it was the middle of the summer, they decided to try it again to get food for their mother. Some Americans who had come to the Alps to climb mountains heard them sing and helped the children and thier mother. If anyone knows the book I am thinking of I would really appreciate a title so I could do a search for it.
