Read this in the 60's (19, not 18).  Book had the feel of several short stories combined into a book.  Teen girl and boy are neighbors.  He likes her  but is too shy to tell her.  He does tell her he likes a girl, and athough she likes him, she sets out to make him attractive to the mysterious "other woman".    Rign any bells?
