Ok, here it goes...

Back in the early 90's I fell in love with a romance novel, but I cannot remember the title or the author.  It went something like this...

She was an accountant who loved to go to antique shops and estate sales on weekends.  She "purchaed" a bachlor for a charity -auction thingy and they spent their date sailing. Her date had a cold and was loaded up on cold medicine, drank too much free champagne and was a bit out of it when she got him.   Her boss wanted her to go to the auction-thingy because he was nervous about being bid on.  He was bid on by a woman developed a nice relationship with her.  ( I vaguely remember soemthing about an aquarium he purchaed for her.)  It was  a modern day story, not a historical.  I am almost positive it was published by Avon, but I am not sure.  I know it wasn't Harlequin or Silhouette.  It had a blue front cover of her on a sailboat, wearing a black and white striped top. 

If anyone is familiar with this story, or better yet has it on thier bookshelf, PLEASE let me know.  I would love to read this book again.  If anyone has an idea about the publisher, that would be great too.

  I remember this book as well.  I am trying to find a list of popular romance authors from the 1980's on the internet that might help, but to no avail.  Is there one out there?

I check the Library of Congress website, but they only list select titles starting from about 2000.   No luck.

But...try www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/  Not only do they list book by the author, but they show the covers of the books as well.  Try some authors you were reading at the time, and see if anything jogs your memory.

You really need to search by author.  Try someone like "Penny Jordan"  look at the book covers and then scroll to the bottom of the page.  It will give you a link to similiar writers from that same time frame...

Sounds familiar to me too, and I usually read more historicals and paranormals.

My goal is to hit a used book store in another town that usually carries all romance.....I will hopefully find it there....
