Hi Everyone,

I am looking for books for my son, he likes fantasy, mystery, adventure types of books.  Some of his favorite series are Animorphs, Harry Potter, Dragons of Dextoria, Pendragon, ect...

I was wodering if anyone has any books in the same type of genre and is willing to make me a deal.   He is only 10 but he reads WAY above his level.  He really don't like Magic Tree House or A to Z Mysteries because he is able to finish them within a hour.

Thanks so much

I've got Jim Kjelgaard's Stormy on my shelf, which is a wonderful dog's-eye-view story (rather like White Fang and The Incredible Journey); Clovermead: In the Shadow of the Bear ( summary here ) which is a high-fantasy sort of thing, first in a series; Brian Daley's Han Solo's Revenge, which is of course a Star Wars novel; Mary Stewart's The Crystal Cave, which is the book Disney's Sword in the Stone movie is (somewhat loosely) based on; Alchemy Unlimited is a very funny book of apprenticeship in magic to, um, a very odd master; Montmorency is a YA novel (first of a series) about a Victorian thief-turned-nobleman; and Avi's The Barn, which might be a little basic on reading-level for your guy.

I'll give you three-books-for-two-credits on any of these (or of course, include some for yourself if you see something you want!). If you want something other than a multiple of three, PM me and we'll work something out? :->

I don't have books on my shelf...but I'm an elementary school librarian.

With kids who enjoy fantasy type things, here are series that I suggest...and have been really popular:

1. The Warrior series (Hunter)

2. Inkheart...and Inkspell

3. The Gregor the Overlander series
