Hello,

Let me give a little backstory... I'm a fledgling writer who is still trying to find their nitch. I'd like to write young adult fantasy, but my knowledge of the genre is sadly lacking. It's only been in the last year that I've collected and read a few books in this category. Skipping unimportant boring details, I got it in my head to read young adult fantasy books that included necromancers. I've tried googling the category, but I have no idea what's what. I'm not interested in adult fiction with necromancers, just "young" adult fantasy.

Anyway, I was telling my problem to this friend who said that when they were a teenager, they read a really good fantasy book that had a heroine who was a necromancer. And yes, it was young adult. I asked her for more details, but she couldn't remember anymore than that. This woman is about late thirties to early forties, so I thought if she read the book as a teenager, it must be at least fifteen to twenty years old. However, googling still turned up no results that matched my friend's description.

Does anyone know of any young adult fantasy books that have a heroine who is a necromancer? And just for the record, I've already looked at Kelley Armstrong. I don't think that's it, as it's too recent.

Any suggestions would be welcome. Even if it's not the book I'm looking for, I'd still like suggestions on young adult fantasy books that include necromancers either as the main character or secondary characters.

I'll say thanks in advance!

Natalie

Perhaps it was Sabriel by Garth Nix which was first published 14 years ago, has a heroine who is a necromancer, and is YA.

Maybe it was The Wolf of Winter by Paula Volsky which was first published 16 years ago and has a heroine who is a necromancer.  I don't know if it is YA or not.

Thanks for the suggestions! I have no idea whether it is the book or not, but I appreciate the titles as I'll read them all the same.

Appreciate it!
