Another Hispanic detective...actually, a lesbian Boston lawyer-turned-scriptwriter of Costa Rican heritage becomes involved in murder when she journeys to Los Angeles. Diana Mendoza (who exudes attitude) plays good Samaritan to an arrogant, snot-nosed (and bisexual) Anglo model accused of murdering her philanthropist husband. The model eventually breaks through Mendoza's defenses, and the pair's relationship heats up just as the law closes in; Mendoza must then search for the real killer. Good dialog, unusual character interactions, and believable plot mark Mendoza's debut.
I really enjoyed this book...
