I never read the Hellboy comic book but I did enjoy the movie. This book keeps with the spirit of the movie (or is that the other way around). Anyway it is a good book. Hellboy goes off in the desert and helps an old aquaintance search for the lost Persian army that disappeared around 525 BC. Book is full of the supernatural and monsters (just like in the movie). Fast paced story keeps you entertained.

One of the first Hellboy books and it's pretty good. I'd recommend it above some of the others.
