I thought about putting this in another thread but thought I would start another one so it didn't get lost. I sent a book the beginning of Nov (without PBS postage) and it was marked lost in the mail by PBS. Now if I understand the help docs, had the person been inactive the system would have marked the book as received, but since it was marked as lost that means they must have logged in sometime over the last month, correct? I sent a PM to the person inquiring because this is the 1st book I have ever sent that went lost and this person does't have anything on their shelf and all of the books on the WL are old (I am not sure any are from this year). Am I basically out of luck or if this person doesn't reply can I forward to TPTB and have them inquire about the book if this person doesn't respond to me at all? |

The Help Docs say "If you don't hear back from the requestor within a week of sending a PM asking about the book, you should contact us to look into the situation." So I would go ahead a contact them. Was this a wish list book, or from your shelf? If it was from your shelf, they had to log in to order it. |

Use the Contact Us link at the bottom right of the screen to send in Feedback if the requestor does not get back with you within a week. PBS frowns on non-responses. |

Okay, I got to add something. PBS frowns on lack of response AFTER the book goes lost. PBS does not seem very upset about a lack of response to folks that harass the receiver with PMs before the book gets lost. PBS is already doing this for you. This is not carte blanche to start reporting every lack of response. Only the ones 1) after the book goes lost or 2) about problem swaps. Those PBS takes very seriously. The OP clearly states that the book has gone lost. Reporting the lack of response would be correct in that case. |

Thanks everyone. I need to wait until next week to contact PBS about non-response to give this person time to respond. It was a WL book and I think it might have been on auto request but don't remember that far back! |

Exactly Leslie. I had one of these transactions awhile back (I mail with PBS DC which showed a delivery scan from several weeks prior), and PBS handled it exactly how Emily posted.
As far as reporting to TPTB, this is the series of events:
TPTB didn't take action immediately, so I'm guessing they pm the requester and wait at least 7 days. But eventually the system marked my book received. |
