A great historical detective. It is set in the early 1900's and based in the very real and gritty world of the steam railways. The settings are soundly research reflect the attitudes of post-Victorian (Edwardian) England. A fun read, the series has only minor continuity in the life of Jim Stringer so can read out of order.
