I've never had a problem with a book being lost before, and have had several since the holidays.  I had one book that I sent that got lost, and 3-4 that I ordered that have apparently been lost in the mail - all this over the past couple of months or so.  Is something going on with the postal service?  Is anybody else noticing this?

I know that the holidays sometimes make it take longer since media mail is sent as space is available.

I personally haven't noticed any difference and some of my books were to their destination in 2 days

Media mail can go a little wonky over the holidays and just starts to even if self up about now.  I've had some books move very quickly, but others have taken their sweet time.  I also had books that I dropped in the blue box last Wednesday just get scanned at the local post office today!

Yeah, give it an extra week or two around the holidays.  If it arrives late, it can be marked received from the transactions archive.

Well, I've never had a book go missing but I sent four brand new, HB cookbooks out on December 22nd and so far, only two of them have arrived. :-( The rest of the 14 books that I mailed in the two weeks at Christmas arrived so I guess I'm lucky. I'm really bummed that two such nice books may have been swallowed up in the system. Oh. I'm still waiting on a book that was mailed from less than 600 miles away on December 16th. That one will time out any minute now. :-(

Alas, a book on my WL was declared lost today.  I really wanted that one.

I had 4 books go lost about 2 weeks ago, but they've all slowly arrived as of yesterday. Hopefully yours will too!

I'm curious, Leann, did the dates coinside with the dates they were suppose to be mailed?

Thanks for all of your replies - it's reassuring.  I was starting to get a complex.

I've had several go lost lately too - it's been really weird as I usually get them, but late for whatever reason.  This time - there have been three books that haven't made it to me and two had DC on them!

I have also had some books lost.  One big box that was taped very securely had a rip somehow and a few books were missing out of it.  Had a bunch of books that I had ordered from one person, they ended up never coming.  I PM'd and told them but no response.  I checked and that account is now invalid.  I ordered a couple of others that also never came.  I didn't claim lost in the mail just in case they showed up.  With it being the holidays and all.  But I put insurance on a couple of boxes.  Well, I  don't think that it is worth it because unless you can prove the value of the books then you don't get reinbursed.

I would say the PO is the problem.  Especially during the holidays.  they have tons of mail and I can tell alot of my packages have been handled very rough.

Just my opinion
