My husband and I are anxiously awaiting the release of season 4 of Battlestar on DVD. In the meantime, what are some books or series that are similar? I like a little romance and drama mixed in with my galactic wars. |

Try The Praxis by Walter Jon Williams. It's the first of a trilogy. The main characters are complicated people. One of them is a strong female pilot with an interesting past. There are good battle scenes, too. http://www.amazon.com/Dread-Empires-Fall-Walter-Williams/dp/038082020X/ref=pd_bbs_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1222873677&sr=8-1 |

I never saw Battlestar Gallactica, but I liked The Praxis. I read it when it first came out, and finally just got the second book (The Sundering). |

Matt, you need to finish reading the trilogy and start watching Battlestar. |

Bleah...TV. Actually, I've been told I look like Chief Galen Tyrol from the show, so now I'm kind of curious. |

Battlestar is well written, sexy, and filled with science fiction goodness. |

You might try the Liaden books by Steve Miller and Sharon Lee. That is space opera with romance. Also Catherine Asaro's Skolian Empire series. Lots of great space opera with romance. Or also (these are just coming to me as I write this) the Miles Vorkosigan series by Lois McMaster Bujold. That one has more warped humor, lots of great space opera and some romance (not tons). And for a really great SF series (though not space opera), there is the Company series by Kage Baker. That is about immortal time traveling cyborgs. |
