Love Covers Author:Tricia Cribbs This is a quilting leaflet/book using child-like illustrated stitched blocks. It is Christian-themed, and all the stitcheries have Bible verses or Christian-in-nature ones (such as "I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart", for one example). The "stitcheries", as the author terms them, look like a small child wrote them and drew them; i... more ».e., irregular 'printing' and stick figure pictures. The effect is quite charming. The author says that the reason she called the (finished) quilt "Love Covers" is because they "...have a continuing theme of love, and are meant to inspire us to better love one another. I Peter 4:8 tells us, 'Above all, continue to love one another fervently, for love covers a multitude of faults.' I don't know about you, but I know that I need that cover!"
Her mother, age 73 at the time of this book's printing, is the one who drew the original "Love Covers" illustrations. Tricia, her daughter, added to the collection.
Directions are clear and easy, and there are comments about not worrying that the Quilt Police will come and get you for making the quilt in different ways. :>) It's very laidback in tone. Instructions are also given for making little pillows and/or wallhangings, besides the whole quilt.
I bought this book last year thru the Fat Quarter Shop, a fantastic online quilt shop in Texas, my home state. They have fabulous fabrics, books like this one, and all sorts of quilting notions. Their website is: www.fatquartershop.com, and if you go there and feel like you've *got* to buy something, just tell 'em Bron sent you. :>)
I've rather left quilting behind in my cardmaking/selling pursuit, so it's time to share the love with my quilting books, including this one. It's really a beautiful little book with great possibilities!« less
