Hold the 'phone! We've got another real winner here from Deeanne Gist! If you're like me a handsome hero with *sigh* curly hair and a badge will make you melt anytime and when you throw in just a tad bit of swagger things get out of hand. Let me just say that Luscious Lucious puts all romance heroes to shame with his ability to make overalls sexy. Why is a lawman in overalls? Did I mention that he's undercover disguised as Luke Palmer, troubleman for Southwestern Telegraph and Telephone Company? Okay you're probably thinking this girl is crazy right talking about a Christian fiction hero as sexy but trust me, you will agree with me after having read this book. Don't worry, Love on the Line is still completely PG-rated even though the chemistry between Luke and Georgie is smokin'. ;-) If you are familiar with Deeanne's work at all you know she always writes heroes that are oh so easy to fall in love with. Yes I realize this is fiction, therefore Luke is not real and yes I realize that the Verizon techs probably don't look like him but I might keep my eyes peeled anyway.

So enough about the hero you're probably wondering about the story itself, well I'm happy to say it's just as good. Deeanne has definitely brought the fun back with this book, although I have to say that if I never read about bird's again in a story it will be too soon. Georgie Gail the resident switchboard operator is as fanatical about her feathered friends as she is the telephone and it's definitely interesting to see Georgie and Luke go beak to beak...err head to head, whichever you prefer. The trademark chemistry that only Deeanne can create between hero and heroine is present from the very beginning. When you throw two hardheaded, stubborn people together it makes the story all that more delightful! Who knew that Christian fiction could be so much fun?

I highly recommend every single one of Deeanne Gist's novels to anyone who loves Christian fiction, Love on the Line is no exception. I'm wondering if there could be a sequel in the works because a certain character is just begging, begging, BEEEEEGGING for her story to be told! I hope so but if not I'm definitely satisfied with the way this one turned out and will be a Dee fan for life!

Love On the Line by Deeanne Gist is simply wonderful. I enjoyed this book. It's a turn of the century story that will make your heart smile. The author spent a lot of time doing her research and it shows. Her style of writing shines! I loved the heroine and the hero so much. I highly recommend this one!

I've loved several of Dee's past books and flew through the stories quickly, but Love on the Line fell flat for me. I was never quite sure what year the book was set in, though Texas came alive for me. It dragged on and I forced myself to finish reading to the end. I felt like we knew more about the birds Georgie loved so much then we did about Georgie herself. Actually, Georgie's obsession with the birds was kind of weird. Thanks to Georgie and Luke stealing lots of kisses and staring at each other constantly, their romance was based on physical attraction, without much depth. Faith was very scarce in this book too, especially compared to some of Dee's other books. The history included in the book was well researched, but that's expected for Deeanne's stories, and it felt like some history was dropped in here, dropped in there, instead of woven in as well as Deeanne usually does. Overall, this was on okay book, but Deeanne's written much better books prior to Love on the Line.

I think this is my favorite Deeanne Gist book, and I have read almost every book she has written!
I also enjoy reading the info at the end of each book about the historical aspects she researched and added into the story to make it historically accurate.

I love this author. I purchase everything that she writes one way or another. This book she does not disappoint. I loved the history of the period incorporated into this novel like her others, and there is always a fun love interest. It is so refreshing not to have open and unrestrained sex and just the excitement of first love that leaves sex for a time after marriage. Everything is so detailed in books these days that the imagination gets absolutely no workout. I am also a real bird lover, so the discussion of trying to save as many birds as possible and watching the nests and habits of particular birds was fun to read about, along with shooting contests and train robberies. What more can you ask for? Worth the read.

Charming wonderful book! I couldn't put it down read it in one sitting. Another great read from Deanna Gist. Georgie and Luke/Lucious are both great characters and have you hooked from the first pages. The townspeople are well written and you get to know them also.

Loaded with intrigue, birds and historical context this is a well-written story of telephone switchboard operator Georgie Gail and Texas Ranger Lucious Landrum in 1903. The Ranger goes undercover as a telephone salesman to catch a criminal in Brenham, Texas, and he soon finds himself in love with the bird-loving Georgie. If he blows his cover with Georgie, he could risk his law career and lose the trail of the notorious Comer Gang.

Georgie is ferociously protective of birds, and a large part of this story is Georgies stance against the use of bird parts as decorative accessories on clothing, and in the spirit of Nellie Bly she educates the townsfolk on her favorite pastime of bird watching. Meanwhile, it is the very townsfolk who are members of the Comer Gang that the Ranger is tracking, and Georgie finds herself immersed in the Rangers plans to trap the men. If the two survive the Comer Gang, can they allow themselves to love each other when the stubborn and strong-willed Georgie learns who her telephone salesman really is? A fast-paced, humorous and well researched story with many intriguing characters that offers a little bit of everything, Love on the Line is the perfect historical romance to curl up with on a long weekend.

2012 RITA Finalist for Inspirational Romance! Also note that for those readers who enjoy Julie Klassen's work, she is one of the editors for this novel.

Georgie Gail is a switchboard operator in the little town of Brenham. She loves her job, being independent and most especially birds. She's perfectly happy. That is until they send a new troubleman to her station. Luke Palmer is a Texas Ranger who is trying to bring Frank Comer and his gang to justice. When a train robbery occurs in Brenham, Luke is sent there undercover as the new troubleman. Georgie is very distracted by the handsome Luke Palmer and Luke finds Georgie is much more than he bargained for. The attraction between is definitely strong! But trouble is brewing and Luke knows that Georgie could end up in the middle of it. Will he be able to catch the Comer Gang and protect Georgie or will one come at the expense of the other?

I thoroughly enjoyed this story! I don't think I've read anything before on the subject of a switchboard operator so that was quite interesting. Even the job of a troubleman. I thought the story was well paced except I must say it waned just a little for me with all the 'bird parts' on the hats and the Audubon stuff but after that it was great! There was a real chemistry between Luke and Georgie and lots of good toe curling kisses! Luke is tough as nails on the outside but tenderhearted on the inside and Georgie is full of sass and grit. Together they make this a really fun story. I must say too that you'll want to be sure and read the authors note at the end. To me it made the story even better. If you're looking for fun story with a bit of a sizzle then I recommend you try Love on the Line! A thank goes to Bethany House for providing this complimentary copy in exchange for my honest review.
