Sisson, the daughter of a Shakespearean scholar, was born in London and later lived behind Shakespeare's birthplace in Stratford-upon-Avon, leaves little doubt as to the inspiration for this novel. Out of the few historical facts known about Shakespeare, she has created a moving novel about young Will and his family in Stratford.
