Abandoned by the college boyfriend who got her pregnant, librarian Jenifer Wright has raised two children alone in sleepy Doolittle, Ark. Though independent, successful and beloved by a colorful family, Jenifer has little in the way of a sex life. But when mysterious "investor" Eric Hamilton strolls into her library, she immediately envisions having a fling with him.

Eric, who's actually an undercover agent investigating a counterfeiting ring, also feels the pull of attraction. The two flirt madly at family cookouts and bowling nights, but their tryst is postponed by a seemingly endless series of crises involving family and friends, as well as the illegal intrigue brewing at the local paper mill. To Jeni's surprise, Eric turns out to be supportive as well as sexy, and he, in turn, is surprised to find himself wanting to put down roots for the first time.

North's (Opposites Attract, etc.) playful voice and evocation of small-town relationships make this an appealing read.

Librarian Jenifer Wright was abandoned by the college boyfriend who got her pregnant. She has raised two children alone in a small Arkansas town. She is independent and successful and she has a doting and quirky family. Her love life leaves a lot to be desired, though. Enter mysterious "businessman" Eric Hamilton who comes into her library one day. She's more than ready for a fling with him and the feeling is mutual. Eric is really an undercover agent investigating a counterfeiting ring, though. Lots of flirting ensues, but they never seem to manage to come together due to an endless string of crises involving Jenifer's family and friends. Meanwhile intrigue of an illegal nature is brewing at the local paper mill. To Jeni's surprise, Eric is a supportive and sexy and he, in turn, is surprised to find himself attracted to the idea of settling down in this charming place. The mystery and romance plot threads are pretty predictable, and there's not much graphic sex, but Norths' portrayal or romance and intrigue in a small town along with a slew of appealing characters make this a satisfying read.
