This book is OUTSTANDING. It was so hard to put down and is a delicious 662 pages! The Earl of Glenkirk and the Leslie family are a wonderful mixture of lives one gets to know and the trials and tribulations mixed in with the love stories, the ruthless King in the mix is spellbinding. The adventures, change of scenery throughout keeps one anxious to turn the page. It is pure rapture!

Considering this was written in the 70's, I was expecting a rather drab romance. WHOA- was I wrong. From the very start this one pulled me in. Historical romance at its best. It can be a little overwhelming in places --as true to the era-- women were lower than horses....and used more harshly.

This is actually the sequel to the Kadin, but can be read without reading the first. This book will tie into the Skye series when the heroine's son grows up and marries Sky's grandaughter from India, Jasmine. Thus linking the Leslies with Skye's family. This is another fantastic read by Small. Cat's story will even make you cry. They just don't write like this anymore. Bertrice Small's book are books you will want to devour. This isn't mindless writing that quickly bores you like a lot of romances today. Her books have climatic love scenes and such description and historical facts to feed your brain. You will be laughing and crying and won't want to put them down.

Absolutely loved this book! An epic drama of passion, tradgedy, greed and especially LUST. The life of Catronia Leslie, The Countess of Glenkirk. The story begins at the beginning and unravels her life in wonderful detail. It draws you in and you cant wait to see what befalls her and her family next. This one is definately a keeper for me, very sensual love scenes and a lot of them!
