What happened to this series?  I bought the book expecting a ROMANCE instead I got a whole bunch of people thinking about sex, a schlew of new characters and tons of accents (lesser Texan, formal Chosen, and BDB "what the hell does that mean")  Crimeny, I felt as if I neede to venture back to middle school just to learn what in the heck the Brothers were saying.

Phury and Cormia...where are you? Nuff said about that.

Lets see, we have Xhex and Revehenge, Qhuinn/Blay/John Matthew/Lash, Z and Bella, Omega and his lessers, Lassiter and who he saves (who is Lassiter?) the list goes on and on.  So now there are vampires, humans, lessers, ghosts, angels, sympaths and all the half-breeds in between.

Can anyone see I am a bit disgusted that I thought I bought a romance and instead received, I don't know...manybe Urban Fantasy?

Lauren

I read the reviews on amazon and a lot of people complaint that J.R.Ward turned this into a Urban Fantasy with too little romance. I still want to read it but i'm kind of scared that it won't be as good as the first 3 books.

I don't think it is as good as the first three, Lilly, but I still thought it was a good read, esp. after my disappointment with the previous one.

Oh ok. I guess Zsadist is still my favorite then. xD And you're so right! The last one was kinda outta there - all i could think at the end was: WTH?

Well, Dawn, you just earned J.R. Ward some more $$.  I wasn't going to buy this after reading the first two posts here but now I've decided to after all.

I thought it was a good book, but I agree with alot of what Lauren said. It was supposed to be Phury's book, but really I think he played  a small role in the story.

I know she has to set up for future books, but I felt kinda cheated out of the romance part of it. I also don't think the Brothers made enough apperances. It was way better than V's story, which I was really dissapointed in, that may be becasue V and Butch were my fave's.

I thought it really was a great book and I won't quit reading it.

Lassiter has made appearence's(spelling?) on the BDB message boards, this was his first apperance in a book.

I liked the book but it was not near as good as the first three.  There really was no romance because as long as the book was there was very little interaction between Phury & Cormia.  They thought more about each than they were actually together.  I also missed the comraderie between the brothers that is usually there.

That being said, for some reason I can't quit these books.  I just hope Ward  takes notice of what her fans are saying because she can really rock romance.  That's how she started this series and us romance lovers don't want Urban Fantasy.

Yeah, I also felt that was missing.  I absolutely LOVED the first four, and think that Dark Lover is probably still my fave.  In fact, I might have to re-read it again this weekend to remind myself of how well she can really  write.

Oopsie. I started a thread over in Paranormal. We should talk there too and we can include spoilers cause I made a warning. ;)

I actually liked this one. It was good and bad. I miss the focus on romance and two characters but it was also cool to look at a few people at once. I just felt like there was almost too much presented and not enough resolved. =/

I liked certain parts of it quite a bit.  I felt like it moved the overall story forward and I was doing lots of "Oh Wow!"

That being said, the Phury/Cormia story was useless.  I would rather that this book focused on Phury's crash and burn with addiction, but not his romantic story, cause let's face it, in the midst of your self-destruction you are so not in the right frame of mind for romance!  It would have  made more sense for him to get it together at the end of the book, and then move forward with a romance.  And the whole Wizard thing was soooooo annoying.

I loved the JM/Blay/Qhuinn parts and I even find Rhev interesting (though creepy at times!)

This isn't a romance but it was interesting in lots of ways.

Hmmmm...now I'm getting intrigued because I've never really cared about the Lessers - I always thought that stuff wasn't well developed.  So if this book FINALLY moves things forward - I just might have to read it.

I loved the JM/Blay/Qhuinn parts and I even find Rhev interesting (though creepy at times!)  I completely agree with this!!

But I liked it!  Now, maybe since I read the first book over Memorial Day weekend and just kept reading through them (finished this one yesterday) and had no "down time" it seemed to flow just right for me.  (For the same reason, I had no problem with V's book and the ending.)

And the ending of this book made me weep.  Absolute tears running down my face for the sheer beauty of it.  I had missed the interaction between the brothers in this book, but the ending made up for it.

You have to wade through quite a bit but JR gives out some major spoilers (wanna know who Rhev ends up with?): http://www.romancenovel.tv/wordpress/2008/06/08/interview-jr-ward/#comments
