Jake Montgomery is a private investigator. A private mission has taken him to a coastal California town called twilight cove. Carly Nolan is a clever artist, a good waitress, and a wonderful mother. She also has secrets in her past. When she was a teenager she was going by the name of Caroline Graham. She was running from an abusive situation. She found a friend. She found a job, and at that job, she met Rick. They were wild and free and in-love. Rick went on his way for about a year. When he came back he saw Carly and his baby, and he proposed. On his way back from telling his shocked and disaproving parents that he loved Carly and was going to Marry her, he was killed in a car accident. Rick's parents did every thing in their considerable power to take Rick's son from Carly. Carly ran. Six years later she meets Jake. She doesn't know that Jake was Rick's best friend. She doesn't know that Rick's mother made a promise at her husbands death bed to find that girl who was not fit to raise their grandson, and to get their grandson away from her. Jake was only told that Caroline ran away with the boy. He wasn't told why. Carly and Jake find love. Can their love suvive the secrets that both of them have kept from eachother? Can a woman in her twilight years, let go and forgive, so that her grandson can have both a mother, and a grandmother in his life? This will not go down in history as my favorite book ever, but it was an enjoyable read. I like books where love conquers all!
