Every day there are FREE books posted on sites like pixlesofink.com or ereader.com.   The library is now offering ebooks that you can check out.  There was a book I wanted on PBS that I was way down on the wishlist queue.   The book came out this week.  Found out I could read it off my library site.  I'm in heaven!  I like it that I can adjust the font for these aging eyes.  I will stil read regular books but it sure is nice to have this new gadget with all the options available.  I am reading more now that I have the kindle.   My kids got it for me for Christmas.  It's the low end model, the $79 one but it suits me just find.

I like it that I can adjust the font for these aging eyes.

that's for sure!  i usually stick with a font size that still lets me put a lot on the page, but the last couple of nights i was reading in a hotel room where the bedside lamp just didn't provide enough light for comfortable reading.  popping up a font size from usual made it a lot easier to read.

plus being able to just take my Kindle on the 3-day road trip instead of trying to guess how many paperbacks to haul along is always nice.  :)

Well, I finally caved. Even tho I think I've said on other threads I would never go the e-reader route, I couldn't resist anymore.blush

I Ordered the $79.00 Kindle today!

I already have about 400 ebooks on my BlackBerry that I read with Mobi Pocketbooks. Time to move from the small screen to the big screen (the biggest benefit), plus all of the other neat stuff the Kindle comes with.  I've already whittled down my Wish List considerably because I was able to get many of the books I've been waiting for in the e-book format. I also have a number of PBs and e-book duplicates so I can grab the PB when I'm in the mood.

Congrats! Hope you enjoy!

And you don't have to wait to start stockpiling Amazon Freebies. If you get an Amazon account (if you don't have one already) and download Kindle4PC and install it, you can then start downloading all the Freebies you can find and download them to it, or the Kindle Cloud. Then they'll be in your "Archive" and you can download to the Kindle machine at any time.

(Not sure if you can download freebies without the K4PC because I've had mine for so long, with and without a Kindle, I don't remember.)

There are various places that list free ebooks, and of course you can buy any available.

But you can browse, buy and download freebies while waiting for your Kindle to arrive. Some are only free for three days, so no use waiting if you don't have to.
