This is a story about a tomboy named Tugs. Tugs is very likable and funny. The author does an excellent job in making us believe that we are right in the small town of Iowa with Tugs and setting off with her on her mischievous adventures. Along with being entertaining, this story also gives the reader a realistic perspective of what life in 1929 would be like living in a small town in Iowa. Even though the main character is a girl, boys should also find this story enjoyable.
