A well-reviewed new book by the author of "Dancing in the Dark." An artist awakens to find that her husband has died beside her in the bed. The book covers the first three days after his death, and its effects on the widow and the remaining two members of the household: a young woman recovering from the trauma of a stint working for an NGO in Africa, and an even younger girl who has been posing for the artist's latest sequence of works. The book has wry humor, surprising revelations of character, and a thorough exploration of the varying natures of grief and displacement.
