The Lull-A-Baby Sleep Plan is actually a series of comfort techniques used during what the author call the "Window Of Opportunity" (the WOO phase) generally at the age of 3-5 months in which a baby can be guided into healthy independent sleep habits before any sleep problems develop.
Unfortunately for us we came across this book way after my daughter's "WOO" phase. So we've resorted on having to use a sleep plan for older babies (7+ months) described in this book as the H.E.L.P method.
With minor personal alterations to better fit our gentle parenting style, the H.E.L.P method worked well for us and so we gave The Lull-A-Baby Sleep Plan a 4 out of 5 stars. If we had read this book prior to the "WOO" phase we would've given all 5 stars. But Please if you've been blessed to come across this book before the "WOO" or before you're baby is even born GET IT!
And in relation to our unconventional parenting practices we've had to, as I stated before, alter or slack in some of the techniques advised in the book. Although I can summarize from a 7 day assessment that the H.E.L.P method is effective but if your older baby is used to comfort nursing to sleep, such as mine, then you may be prepared to spend as much energy comforting your little one to sleep as it takes dealing with night wakings... With Consistency, Unconditional Parenting and Patience as our mantra we saw results within 3 days and after 7 days(as the book claims) our little one was able to peacefully put herself to sleep at bedtime.
In Conclusion:
If you're anxious to get your baby to sleep better at night but are reserved on having your baby "Cry It Out" but are also desperate for quicker results than other "weaning" methods then The Lull-A-Baby Sleep Plan is worth the read. Even if it's just to get a better understanding of the dynamics of sleep.
