This book, enclosing 9 tales for children, is absolutely wonderful. I liked the fact that the stories were short enough not to bore children whether they read to themselves, or if read to them at bed time. It touches on a long ago time where life was so different than now. They are pleasant enjoyables stories, and typical of Louisa Alcotts'storywriting. My favorite is "The frost king and how the fairies conquered him".
There are others such as Music and Macaroni, The candy country, The skipping shoes, and more.
