I had never read anything by this author before and was disappointed, as I had such expectations for this book. The story jumps back and forth and is somewhat confusing at times. Also, the plot seems to only skim the surface, and doesn't really offer any good supporting details. The good thing about it is that it's gory. But even the goriness isn't explained in detail to give the reader a good mental picture. You end up asking a lot of questions during the book that go unanswered. Story is about a journalist or something to that nature that finds a hot lead, and soon discovers the horrifying secret the small town sherrif has been hiding. She discovers that he is part of a satanic cult that offers animal and human sacrifices to the Jersey Devil.
