Lynda Myles is a British writer and producer. She served as director of the Edinburgh International Film Festival (1973-1980), director and curator of film at the Pacific Film Archive, University of California, Berkeley, Senior Vice—President at Columbia Pictures, Commissioning Editor for Drama at the BBC for two years, and as co-Executive Director of the East-West Producers' Seminar from 1990-1994, a training program for young producers in Eastern Europe. After co-producing the movie The Commitments in 1990, she worked independently as a producer, making The Snapper, The Van, The Life of Stuff and When Brendan Met Trudy for BBC Films. She recently co-produced Chen Kaige's Killing Me Softly for the Montecito Picture Company.(She is often confused with the American actress, playwright, TV writer, memoirist, and short fiction writer of the same name. The American Lynda Myles is the recipient of the John Gardner Memorial Prize for fiction in 2007 for her short story, "The Blue Dress" and is an editor and contributor to TheMemoirGroup.com. Her short story "A Lucky Man" was featured in the inaugural issue of The Creative Writer, the book series from J.D. Vine Publications. She has been nominated for six and won two Daytime Emmy awards for writing scripts for Santa Barbara, has also won several Writers Guild of America awards for scriptwriting, and has written for General Hospital, Guiding Light, As the World Turns, Loving, and One Life to Live. Her play "Thirteen" was performed in New York and at the ACT Theatre in Seattle. Her first play "Wives" was selected for the prestigious Eugene O'Neill National Playwright's Conference at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center in 1979 and was performed on Theatre Row . The American Lynda Myles also was featured as George Washington's friend Sally Fairfax in the David L. Wolper TV drama "The World Turned Upside Down" with her first husband Jan Leighton, the celebrated historical impersonator. The American Lynda Myles made her Broadway debut in Neil Simon's "Plaza Suite" with Maureen Stapleton and George C. Scott.)
