Anyone with a book that has over 1000 copies in the system (to find out, put books from your bookshelf into your reminder list)?

I just listed

The Bridges of Madison County :: Robert James Waller, of which there are 1047 copies.  Hilarious!

Anyone want it?  ;)

I picked up the following book at a sale:

A MILLION LITTLE PIECES    by JAMES FREY

ISBN: 9780307276902

Copies Available: 1,756

I did not even post it. I will carry to GOODWILL

When I checked the 50 books with most copies in the system list - I realized  that I have most of those books - but I have not listed them.

Dan Brown and John Grisham's books dominating the top 20

Maybe if we offer special  deals here we might get rid of them.

Well, this website includes a group of "top 50" listings, including the top 50 books ever posted on this site.  The leader is Dan Brown's "Angels and Demons" with 2,323 copies having been posted (as of today). Over 2,200 of those books REMAIN in people's various bookshelves.  Of course, why would anyone spend a credit, which costs over $2.00, to order that book that you almost certainly can find at a garage sale for not more than $0.25.  Anyone with one of the numerous Dan Brown and/or John Grisham books posted on the "top 50" might be better off just offering to send these books as a "freebie" with any purchase as a form of good will.

Ah, I just found the top 50 list (I'm new!).  Not as exciting now.

But, yes, anyone who orders from me can have The Bridges of Madison County for free :)

I always put my books on my RL and psot from there.  If there are too many copies already in the system, I tend to either give the book to the FOL, Goodwill or see if the UBS wants it (usually not). LOL.

I always figure that even if a book got ordered every day that's only 365/366 books that can be ordered in a year (even if 2 or 3 were ordered a day that's still a long time), and I'd rather find a book that might go quicker to take up the space on my shelf.  Pat

are there other places we can send books that are too popular? i remember hearing once about someone sending books to troops over seas or would a hospital want them? my mom and i have some popular books and we'd rather donate them.

thanks,

michelle

I just found this:  http://www.givebooks.us/index.html

If I'm reading correctly, FedEx has agreed to give free shipping to people donating to the cause, which is pretty frickin' awesome.

Has anyone done this?  I'd LOVE to contribute!
