Re Tammy's question on machine attachments/feet - while some of the feet with newer machines will make use of the newer features like the zig-zag, double needles, etc., many of them haven't changed much from the old days.  Here's a page called Grandmother's sewing machine that shows how to use some of them.  This is for Singer but the basics are are the same.
