I made a really dumb mistake - I posted a WL book, it got accepted, I printed out the label and mailed the book. Sounds great. Problem is, I accidentally cancelled the transaction instead of marking it mail. OK, my bad. But, I simply reposted the book, assuming it would go right back to the same member who would be at the top of the wish list again. Since I had already mailed the book, I never looked at the wrapper, just hit the button long enough to be able to bring up the Book Has Been Mailed button. Well - the book HADN'T been offered to the same person, for some reason. Now I've mailed the book to one person, but marked it as having been mailed to a totally different person. I've PM'd both of them to let them know the situation. Haven't heard back from either one of them yet. But I'm wondering how I can offer to fix this particular mix-up? This was a brand-new, $30 book - I can't exactly afford to go out and buy another copy to send to the second requester. |

Use the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page to contact R&R. Ask them to cancel the second copy that you marked mailed so that person can get back on the wish list and get her credit back. Then you just have to hope the first person will give you a credit for the book. She doesn't have to, since she'll be getting two copies (the reason your book wasn't posted back to her must have been that another copy was posted to her) but since it's a wish list book and she can send it out again. |

Bren, another option would be to see if the member who will receive two books would be willing to forward the book to the member you marked the book mailed to. It's worth asking, but it is a little riskier, as there's no guarantee that the recipient will actually do so, but I think most members would be accommodating. Be sure to offer a credit for doing so. |

Well it all worked out OK. The first requester did NOT get another copy of the book posted to her, so I don't know why she didn't end up first in line again. But the first requester has agreed to read the book quickly after receiving it and then post it directly to the WL of the second person, whose request has been cancelled. So everyone is happy. |
