I know we are all over the RC rants and debates, but this one made me giggle.  I received a request for an audiobook today.  The ISBN is for the abridged version and the listing clearly states that it is abridged.  The requestor has an RC that they only accept unabridged audiobooks.  I don't know where I am in FIFO and I don't want the next person to get burned by an RWAP, so in my reason, (they do see the responses, right?), I gave them the ISBN of the unabridged version.  This audiobook has been sitting for a while so I was excited to get it out the door when I got the email, but obviously can't risk that one.

Yes Becki, IIRC the requester sees the response to a declined RC.   If she changes her mind, she can turn off the RC and re-request the book.

They get a email from PBS with the reason but no names.

It's possible that they decided they didn't mind the abridged version for that one and just forgot to turn off their RCS.

I had an RC one time that rambled on and on about campfires and blood hounds. I didn't read the whole thing (it was like 3 really long paragraphs) but just skimmed it. I think it was a no-smoking RC but I wasn't about to take the time to read it all and figure out what was gibberish rambling and what was actual RC.

I thought that might have been the problem so in my response I noted that they had requested an abridged version and said they needed to turn off their RC to receive that ISBN.  The RC simply stated, I do not want unabridged audiobooks..

Maybe they are running a test to see how many people actually accept an RC that says they don't want what they've requested.

When I first joined the site, I listed two hard cover books.  One of them was requested, sent, and received with no problems.  The other book was requested with an RC that stated that the receiver did not accept hardcover books.  The ISBN clearly stated that this book was a hardcover, and the book was not WL.  I sent an email stating that if the receiver didn't want a hardcover book, then they shouldn't have requested one.
