I read this book as a child and it stuck in my head like no other. Sally's trips back and forth to the past lit up my imagination. I absolutely loved this book.

Eight year old Sally is left with her ancient Aunt Sarah and her cat, Shadow while her parents have gone on vacation. Sally discovers through a painting that another girl named Sally with a beautiful doll named Elizabeth once lived in the house many years before. Through a magic mirror in the attic Sally visits the other Sally's world. Sally discovers that the doll Elizabeth is somewhere in the house today. Sally decides to find the hidden doll and the adventure begins. RL:5.4
