I noticed that there is a button that you can push when someone requests a book .. It says "I can Mail Later' Then there is one for "I can mail within 2 days" I always do the 2 days but need a at least until Thursday of this week to mail a book out.. What does the "I can mail later" button do?!?!

It gives you a list of dates to choose from for the next week or so.  You can click on that option and then click back if you don't want to use it (even if you click the "are you sure you can mail it later" button).  I've done it - you won't be stuck, I promise!

It lets you pick from a drop down menu of other days. I forget, I think it is up to 5 days later.

And even if you choose the latest date, if it turns out you can mail tomorrow you're always free to do so!  :->

And much like the two day option, you still get a day or so "wiggle room" if you select a day further in the future.

Sometimes I'll pick a date a few days out if I'm not sure if I can get it  mailed within two days, and often will get it done earlier.  No harm, no foul.

I always pick the later date, I even did this AM out of habit, even tho I KNEW DH was going to the PO shortly, and I was going to print the address & mail it as soon as I got done accepting the order. I just always pick it so that *IF* I need those extra days, I have them!

Because I live in a place prone to unexpected bad weather (read snow, ice, freezing rain) I usually click the mail later button and pick the latest mailing date offered.  I am usually mailing them within a couple of days but want the extra days as a cushion in case of bad weather.

I always pick the furthest date out just in case....I normally mail within 2 days but sometimes things happen and I don't want to miss the date!

I always click the "I can mail later" & pick the last date. This is because I never know for sure when it will go out. I already to mail the next day but some days we are to busy, I get the book ready to mail and the mail man has already come, I get sick or so on.

I always choose the last date because you never know when the printer will go out (lke mine did!).  Or the electricity, or the car.....etc.   Seems like there's always something going wrong to keep me off schedule.  I hate to not meet a deadline - so I give myself as much time as I can - although I do try to accept as soon as possible.   Sometime this week we are supposed to get a new printer!  Then things will be easy again - for a while.

Because of my procrastination tendancies, I usually pick the 2-day button, because otherwise I end up with so much time that I put it off.  But then I live within half a block of a blue box, and within 2 blocks of the Post Office.  I do sometimes choose to "mail later" if I'm having a crazy week.  I definitely see the logic of those who always choose the later date, though.  If I didn't need the extra poke in the ribs, that's what I'd do!

I always choose the last possible date even though I rarely take that long.  Better safe than sorry.  If I get busy or the weather's really bad then I have some leeway.

I'm going to chime in with the crowd.  I always pick the latest date.  I do it even when I know I'm going to get to the PO later in the same day!  Because of this, I don't get the least bit worried when I see my books I've requested with a 'will mail by' that is much out in the future :)

i will choose the last date for whatever order comes in when i don't have any.  (and if it comes in over the weekend, i'll hold off accepting until sunday 9pm PST so i can choose friday as the mail-by date.)  then i generally just match any other orders that come in to that same date, since i'm only going to the post office once.

I always choose that last date as well.  Generally I get there much sooner, but some weeks go bonkers and I am really glad of the extra days.

lol, I guess we know where the procrastinator's hang out!  Add me to the growing list of people who mark the last day possible to mail the book out.  With two young children, I never count on the fact that a post office trip can happen even if it's all I have planned for the day.  I really like to mail the book out the same or next day, but sometimes life happens and I can't get it out until that fifth day.

Wow, guess I'll go against the crowd here.  Rarely do I use the "will mail later" option, 98% of the time it's the 2 day option because I go by a blue box nearly every day of the week.  If I need to mail on Sunday, I'll even drive the 30+ blocks to the PO to drop the book off since they don't pick up from the blue boxes on Sunday.

Another "me too."  While I accept the request as soon as I can (I don't want them waIting and wondering about *that*, too!) I choose the latest date.  And these last two months even that hasn't been enough!  Between being snowed and flooded in, I'm getting out even less often than usual.  I just had to mark three more mailed last week that I couldn't get out until this morning!  I let them all know about the delay, though, so they wouldn't wonder what happened to the books.  Especially the lady that lives about 100 miles away.

I've had enough of this weather, that's for sure!

Trisha M

The mail later will give you some dates as to when you can mail the book out . I always most of the time say , "mail later" , just in case I dont get it mailed out in 2 days . Most of the time I do get it mailed out when I say . I have never had a problem with books receiving or sending out .

I actually use the "mail later" button for a different reason.  I choose one of the mail later dates because then the book info includes a line that says "I will mail by ____ " (whatever date I've chosen, plus the extra time given.)  I like this reminder of the promised mail date, especially if I get 2-3 orders over a few days period.  If you choose the "I can mail in 2 days" option, it does not print a mail by date with the book info.

I always push I can mail later, because I almost did not get a book sent on a 2 day mail time, so now I push the I can mail later, even if I mail that book the next day or the day after
