Hi,

I have been a member for one month now and love Paperback Swap !! However, I had a problem this past week.  On July 2, I printed postage (evening) and planned to mail a book on July 3rd.  I went to the local post office around 11:00 a.m. and they were closed, early, for the Holiday!!  I came back home and dropped the book in my mailbox out front and the carrier did not come around and pick up any mail on July 3rd.  The package sat in my mailbox until Monday, July 6th and my carrier picked it up.  Today, my carrier brought it back with this note "This package has 2 July Date.  Only mailable for that date".      The post office circled my printed postage date of 7/2/09 on my package.    What do I do now???  Do I have to print and pay again for postage??  I can't go to my local post office due to working out of town and their hours and mine don't  match.  I am near another post office during the day.  Should I go there??    Was wondering if this has happened to anyone else??   Thanks so much!!

Don't pay postage again.  Take the package to your PO and explain what happened.  Ask that they print a zero postage label to correct the mailing date on the package.

They do want you to mail on the date on the package.  So, if you're printing postage the night before but mailing the next day, change the date to the next day.

They don't care if you mail the book early but they do care if you mail it after that postage date.  So on the rare occasion I use the printed postage-I put the next day or Mon if I'm printing in on Fri or Sat to go in the blue box.

Why didn't you put it in the blue box at the post office when you saw they were closed? It probably wouldn't have come back then.
