Last week, on July 2nd, I requested two books. Here it is one week and one day and they haven't moved yet from the "Books I've Requested" to "Enroute to Me".

The "Will Mail By" date is July 8th. Tomorrow it is going to be July 11th.  When is something going to happen by the system to get these books in the mail?

I know that patience is "key", but tomorrow it will be 9 days since I first requested the books!  They are not wishlisted books and have not changed from one sender to another.

I know that PBS sends emails, but how long can a book just sit there with a past due mail by date?

The "Will Mail By" date is July 8th. If the book is not marked mailed by midnight tonite, it will be cancelled and the request will move on. There are 2 days to mark a books as mailed after the mail by date.

In theory, a book can be in that tab for over 12 days. 5 full days to accept (so if you request in the am, they will get almost 6 days because system activity happens at night after 5 full days have past) PLUS 5 full days to mail PLUS 2 more days to mark it mailed (rounding again to the next night after the expired time). This means if you request in the am and they time their acceptance, you could end up with 12 allowed plus additional time waiting because the site actions take place at night.

Melanie, thanks so much for your explanation. So, from what I understand, after my requests are cancelled tonight, the books will be returned to the FIFO system, right? Then my requests will be on my "Requested by Me" page with two new senders?  I am happy about that, but hey this could really go on for a whole month! lol

Thanks again for your response. I will have to wait until tomorrow and see what happens.

Be sure to watch closely.  I've had it happen that they forgot to click the "mailed" button and end up getting 2 copies.  You might want to PM them before letting it be re-ordered.

If the first sender doesn't mark mailed, their book will be removed from the system when your request is passed on to the next person with the book available. If someone does that too much, then their account will be put on hold so that they quit letting things time out. Unfortunately sometimes it might take a little while to get a book coming to you, but that isn't the norm.

Had that happen.  Requested several books and three were going to time out today.  I sent PMs to two (and cancelled the third).  One responded and accepted, the other will most likely time out.  In the meantime, the accepted one has a ship date of 21 Jul which means they have until the 23rd to ship and mark it such.  This means this book will be on the list with the same poster for over 12 days.  Sucks waiting (not my strong suit when it is a book I would really like to have in hand), but what can you do?
