Hi,

I'm new here and have a question. I had a book requested from me on the 12th of Feb. I mailed the book out on the 13th. The book had reached its destination and I knew this by the tracking number. However, I had to pm this member to ask if she had gotten the book. She replied back on the "25th" that she had indeed rec'd the book. However, as of this date she still has not marked this book as rec'd. I'd like to have my credit. I've written to "Contact Us" and i'm aware that it stated it may take 24 to 48 hours for a response. That time has passed. I've written several more times to this member to ask that she please mark the book rec'd so I may get my credit. I'm getting no responses from her and I would just like to have my credit. This was a new book read one time by me. Is there a deadline in which the member should mark the book rec'd once they've gotten it? Also, I look forward to many more trades with the members here and making new friends.

Thanks,

Hope

It sounds like at this point, you've done what you could.  Hopefully you'll hear something back soon.

Here's what the Help Center says:

If you sent the book with Delivery Confirmation and it has been recorded as delivered by USPS but hasn't been marked received yet:

  • Remember that the book could have been scanned as "delivered" at the local PO, before it went to the requestor's mailbox--the actual delivery can be a few days later  Also, the book could have been misdelivered.
    • The requestor should check with her mail carrier about this package.
    • The package could also be at her local PO being held for pickup; sometimes pickup notices left by the mail carrier go astray.
  • You should FIRST contact the requestor using the button on the transaction on the Books I've Mailed tab in My Account when a few days have passed after delivery.
  • If the requestor does not respond to your PM within a few days, and/or has not marked the book received by a week after the delivery scan, contact us.  We will look into it.
  • If you used DC purchased through PBS, or PBS Printed postage, you will already have gotten your credit for sending the book.

You mention a tracking number--I take it you didn't use the PBS delivery confirmation, but DC from some other source? Because if you used the PBS DC you should have received your credit when it was scanned. Of course the member still should mark it received, but at least you would have your credit by now!

Aside from what you've already done, not sure what else you can do. I guess if you don't hear back from the member (did you explain to her that if she's received it, she needs to mark it as such?) then I would use the feedback button again and copy/paste the PM from the member where she said she received it in your note. They can maybe then contact the member to let her know she needs to mark the book received, or can at least give your credit.

Also, I would check your credit registry (link on your main account page) to be sure you haven't already received credit for the book.

ETA--oops! looks like we were responding at the same time. :)

Cheryl

Have you sent her this part of the Help Docs?

It is important to mark books received as promptly as possible after receiving them.  It is never acceptable not to mark a book received if it has been received.   This is a cardinal rule of the club.

If you have contacted R&R, they may be contacting the other member now and telling her she has to mark the book rec'd. Hopefully they get it resolved for you soon.

Thank you all for  the help you have given me. Being new here it was a bit hard to find my way around the site. However with a Tour Guide "and i love the fact that you are assigned one when you join". I've been able to make my way around the site rather well. With the exception of this problem everything else has worked out well due to the excellent help that i have rec'd.

I did send a copy of the book and the pm that she had rec'd the book to Feedback.. So, with that, hopefully soon it will be worked out. I just hope there is nothing serious wrong as to why she hasn't signed back in. It took her awhile to respond to the first pm about her recieving the book.

I was informed about the credit registry and so far i've not rec'd the credit . However, i'm sure that since this is out there and i've written to feedback about the situation and sent her " the member" several more pm's that this will be taken care of and i'll get my credit and the book will be marked rec'd.

Thank you all for your help and feedback on this matter.

Hope

I forgot to add that i have "since this hapened" put money in my PBS account so that when the wrapper is printed the postage and the DC# will be there then and i won't have to worry about getting my credit. Might i had this is a great option to have. I had been using the wrapper but putting my own postage on and then going to the PO and now i'll be able to go outside and use my own mailbox and not drive to the PO....lol... 2 thumbs up to R&R for this site. As well as all of the nice members that i've met through the request that i've had and that i've made.

Hope

This is the main reason I started using PBS-DC. I don't expect someone to run to their computer to mark a book recieved the second they get it but within a day or two would be nice. I hope your book gets marked recieved soon Hope!
