So, I mailed a book on Dec. 20 without DC, and the member is gone now and never marked the book received.  Since I've only mailed 4 books so far, I'm worried about how that looks.  Will it look too bad on my account when it finally goes lost?

Also -- can I use a credit card to buy postage and DC, so this doesn't happen again?

if memory serves and the person doesn't log back into their account before or by the time it goes lost the system will give you credit for the book, it probably wouldn't hurt to contact the powers that be an inform them of your problem.  Yes you can use your CC to get PBS money and use that for postage & DC. 

you will get your credit if the person is no longer a member because it was removed from their account and is in pending status.  This happened to me a few months ago and on day 26 there was the credit!  and I didn't use DC either, I don't use it because it hasn't been worth it to me yet.
