Hi everyone! I had requested a book from a member. The member took a while to respond that it could be sent. Once that member responded with an affirmative, he/she stated that it could be mailed later and chose a date of 4/7/09. At this point it is not yet marked as mailed. So should I PM the member and politely ask what's up or is this something that they PBS system will automatically generate and e-mail to the sender? If PBS automatically does it, I think getting a PM from me also might be overkill. Also, out of curiosity, if a book is not marked mailed by the date that the sender specifies, does the sender receive the book credit or not when I eventually receive the book? Thanks for the help!

PBS generates an email. If the book isn't mailed by the date (which is actually the date the sender chose plus 2 days), the request will roll over to the next member with the book. If there are no more copies in the system, it will be placed on your wishlist. The sender does not receive a credit until after you mark the book received. If they don't mark the book mailed, they cannot receive a credit. |

this is soooooo frustrating and hard to resist pm'ng on, but I've learned you've really just gotta wait it out. Not easy to do, I know. I've just been through it myself . If you cancel the book, based on FIFO, it could go right back to the same member. Then again, it may be that they've not gotten around to mailing it or mailed it and haven't marked it mailed yet...... so just wait. The PBS system really is on top of all this and is efficient. I'm fairly new but "broken in" ! Best bet is just to go to the Help and read the info about this, it explains it much better than I can. And don't be afraid to ask for help! You're getting broken in too, Amy.....Hang in there! Tammy Last Edited on: 4/8/09 12:30 PM ET - Total times edited: 3 |

Yes, this is a hard one for new members. The wheels of PBS actually turn much faster than we think....but the USPS media mail is much slower. Some members do not mail early for many reasons. Once you start getting books and sending out books, you won't be as bothered by this as you are now. Hard as it seems, it's true. Have patience, don't Ruth Last Edited on: 4/8/09 12:52 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |
