Hi Kathleen - Yes it is ok to mark a book mailed 2 days after the date that they said it will be mailed. Also they may have mailed the books but can't mark them mailed until tonight when they get home. If they do not mark the books mailed within 2 days after the date, the system will cancel and it will roll over to the next member with the books.

I have had the opposite problem - people mark them mailed and it seems like it takes forever to get. When I finally do get it, I see that it is postmarked days after when they stated they mailed them by. Nowadays, it really does not take that long to get books via media mail. The post office volume is at an all time low and media mail very often comes as quickly as first class. So, when it gets to be a week or more and I still haven't received a book that was marked mailed, I start to get antsy. A couple of times it has happened where people are marking them mailed but don't actually seem to mail them until days and days later. |

There are still some instances where the mail can take 2-3 weeks though Marilyn. Ones coming from Hawaii, etc. I even had one coming from WV to me in Florida and it took 2.5 weeks to get here and they mailed it exacty when they said they did. The USPS may be moving quicker than normal lately, but lord knows, they are still the same old USPS. I also mailed something overnight last week. It was received. SIX days later. Good old USPS! :) |

Well reprinting the address does not extend the mailign time. So the book will still go lost based on the day they marked the book mailed. For the OP today was a Holiday and I believe post offices were closed. So that could be why it was not mailed by today. And today could have been the last possible date to choose as a mail by date. I have one that was supposed to be mailed today. It'll go out tomorrow. |

Stacy, she could be reprinting the wrapper for many reasons, not all of which are because she hasn't mailed the book out yet. Maybe she's concerned the book will go lost and needs the address, or just checking to see where it was mailed to, or hit the button by accident... |

Just a note about the reprint--it will show up that the label is being re-printed even if the person just goes on to check the address (perhaps wondering why the book hasn't gotten to you yet!). |

But, since the book has a DC# attached, shouldn't it be showing up somewhere between paperbackswap and the postoffice as actually having been mailed? |

At last check the mailing label has been reprinted 3 times, the latest being 10/6. The book is obviously not in the mail. Not necessarily true. Once in a while I have problems with Adobe. Sometimes it just won't open for what ever reason, and sometimes my browser will update and then Adobe doesn't like it. In order to get it running, I have to do a lot of test on this site because it's the only time I really use Adobe. So I'll try to fix it, then come back and test it on a book already in the mail to see if the program pulls up the label correctly. I never did get it fixed from the last time, so when I click on the plain label to print it, it only comes up as a file I have to save to my computer, THEN open it with Adobe outside the browser. That works for now, but once in a while I'm going too fast and not paying attention and save the file and forget where. So I have to download it again. But that's usually within an hour or so. The Adobe tests can come days or weeks after I've already mailed the book out. I'm just trying to fix a glitch. But, since the book has a DC# attached, shouldn't it be showing up somewhere between paperbackswap and the postoffice as actually having been mailed? Only if it's scanned along the way, which may never happen with some books. DC means "Delivery Confirmation" to the Post Office. A lot of PO employees won't scan a book until it's delivered. And even then it may not get scanned after it's delivered to the correct address, or even delivered at all. Sometimes they're scanned at when they're delievered to the last P.O. in line of delivery, before they even get on the truck to get to someone's house. It varies a great deal. The P.O. doesn't seem to consider it a real tracking tool, so you don't really want to depend on it for too much. Not even that it's really been delivered when is says it has been. |
