 I ordered a book, It came in the mail, record breaking 1 day media mail trip. (from within my own state) Trouble is they did not mark it mailed. I sent them a PM yesterday asking them to mark it mailed. I am waiting. What happens if they don't mark it mailed and it times out?

She got my PM and marked it mailed, I am so pleased.

Fara, did you compare the name on the package to the name you sent the message to, to make sure they were the same?

It's possible the order on your screen has already rolled over to a new member--so check to make sure it's the same person!

I would do what Stephanie said and before it times out, contact PBS and ask them to mark it received for you.  If it does roll over and you can't cancel it before the next person prints or mails-then you don't have to mark the 1st one received.  But you should at least try to prevent the 2nd copy from coming.

The help doc that deals with this is called I got a book I requested, but I can't mark it received!

As far as I know, asking the Admin Team to mark it received isn't one of the possibilities. Diane's question: did you compare the name on the package to the name you sent the message to, to make sure they were the same? is the reason why.  The admin team doesn't have the package in hand and can't be sure who sent you the book.  It could have come from a canceled transaction, if a sender forgot to mark the book "mailed" by the deadline.  You could be looking at a second sender, and may want to cancel the second transaction so you don't get two books.   Or it could just be that the package made it to your house in one day.  Follow the steps in the help doc, and you can figure out what happened.

I compared the names first thing because this was a rollover to start with. I sent a PM and I hope they will see it before it times out. I know that not everyone checks their PBS account daily the way I do. But if you have a pending transaction I hope you look at least every 2 or 3 days. I might try to find her phone number if she still has a land line.

I would contact PBS about marking it mailed before attempting to try and find the member's phone number...that could be seen as being too intrusive and I certainly would not appreciate it if I got a phone call from a member here about a transaction. Matter of fact, I would scream bloody murder to PBS and any one else who would listen if another member tracked me down and called me over a transaction.

Well , I won't try to call her. It times out tomorrow at 11PM. Maybe she gets on PBS at work and will mark it mailed tomorrow.

I had this happen once and DID contact TPTB. They told me that in the future I should NOT bother them with it, but instead wait for it to time out and then mark it received from my transaction archive. I assume that's possible since they told me to do it, but I've not tested it myself. In the meantime, you have to watch for it so the system doesn't order you another one.
