I have a request where I need to click mailed before tomorrow.  The requestor wants to take advantage of a deal and is awaiting another credit (from a book she already mailed) to do so.  She asked if I could wait for her to receive the credit before mailing.  I told her ok, but I would have to still mark it mailed so it doesn't go fifo... question is... how long can I wait before actually mailing it out once I hit already been mailed.

PBS allows 48 hours in the rules.

Then they say to PM after 4 days if it still hasn't been mailed. Although there is no penalty if you do not.

I think you are fine, you are delaying the mailing at her request. wouldn't worry over it at all.

Yea.  It's at her request.  I do not see any problem with a delay.  As long as the PMs to her are attached to the book order, rather than directly to her nickname.  That way there is a record.

If the PMs are not attached to the book order, I'd think about sending a confirmation PM that I'd attach to the book order.  Meaning that you would PM from the book order details under My Account instead of responding to past PMs.  That way it would show up on the order details archive if your account was ever reviewed.

Catherine, the requestor wants to take advantage of a deal Adrienne is offering, which may involve ordering another book and then getting something free.  She doesn't have the credit yet for the 2nd book.

And I echo what everyone said -- a late mailing is okay if the requestor has approved it.  And where the requestor is asking for it, there's no problem at all.  So you'll mark it mailed before the deadline, cover your back by making sure the PM about mailing late is attached to the transaction, as Emily described, and then PM her when you actually mail the books.  If she enters the postmark date when she marks the book "received" (a lot of us do this automatically) you'll receive a "late mailing" e-mail from PBS.  Don't worry about it in this case.  If they ever look at your account, they'll see her PM asking you to mail it late.

Thanks guys, appreciate the help, especially the advice on attaching the pm to the transaction.
