My printer is not working at the moment so----- I hand addressed the requested book, added another 42cents just in case( I do tend to go overboard on the wrapping sometimes) and know that because it is over 13 ounces I cannot put it in my home mailbox to be picked up by my mail person. Now, my question is: can I drop it into the corner blue mailbox or do I actually have to "hand" it to someone at the post office? I'm sort of a newbie, so thank you very much for your help. Joyce

If it's over 13oz and you used postage stamps, you need to take it to the PO yourself and give it to the counter clerk.

If you live close to a larger post office.. they might have a counter where you can put it.  I know in the large one near here, they told me that they had a camera on that counter so that items placed there didn't have to be handed to a real person.  That would save waiting in line if your post office has something simliar.   You definitely can't use the blue boxes for over 13 oz. without some sort  of tracable postage.
