My daughters love to bath with bath salts. I want to make some to give them and friends for Christmas. I'm starting with Epsom salts and I have some wonderful sents. What I can't figure out at the moment is how to color the salts. It seems to me if I use a liquid color it will start to melt the salts and I won't get a uniform color in the batch. Any ideas???? I've seen liquid dyes and gel dyes. Anyone know of any other kinds that would work???

Most of the recipes I have seen just used food coloring.

Here's what I use:

A mix of epson and rock salts (Like ice cream salt - it puts some big 'crystals in with the mix and we like that"

Baking soda (to soften the water)

essential oils

food coloring.  Just put a few drops in and stir it around - the salts will pick it up no problem

We often dye our big ice cream salt a different color than the small crystals to make it really pretty.

Thanks so much for the info. Never thought of Baking Soda but will add that in. I'll be making the salts this week. Wish me luck.
